Week one, welcome Arduino!



This is the new Arduino board we have been given, along with a bunch of things like LED's, transistors, sensors, wires, capacitors etc. This is an area that has always been confusing for me (and the rest of the group had to sort of agree) so this challenge is going to be full on but we're excited to see what we can do. So far, we are simple downloading software and figuring out the capabilities of this baby.

from TED explaining and showing some of the capabilities of arduino is fascinating and i've got to admit, it made me very excited to get stuck in. The plant design (where the board is programmed to pick up the moisture levels, heat levels etc of the plant and play a constant feedback to you via a twitter page - "i'm hungry!" "im thirsty!" "it's too hot!") was particularly in the theme of what 'sensing the news' meant i thought, not that i'm all too positive i have a solid grasp on that yet.
